Day 1: Shaping Tomorrow’s Healthcare Workforce for the Future of Patient Care

4:25 PM Case Study Presentation: Rebranding the EAP for Improved Employee Wellbeing and Engagement

ECU Health is redefining employee wellbeing by rebranding its EAP to better support the holistic needs of its 14,000 employees across nine facilities. Under the leadership of Chief Wellbeing Officer Dr. Christina Bowen, the organization has launched innovative initiatives – from on-site wellbeing pop-ups to the integration of lifestyle medicine – ensuring that support is accessible, personalized, and purpose-driven. These efforts, closely aligned with HR, have resulted in exponential growth in EAP utilization and a more comprehensive approach to provider wellbeing. Dr. Bowen will share how the organization has:

  • Introduced wellbeing pop-ups and Code Lavender interventions, bringing support directly to employees and increasing EAP engagement
  • Expanded benefits to include six free dietary coaching sessions, facilitated exercise programs, and six free EAP visits per issue
  • Enhanced access to lifestyle medicine resources, including nutrition and sleep support, as well as affordable wellness center memberships
