Lisa M. Abbott, MBA, SPHR Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Boston Children’s Hospital Lisa M. Abbott serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Boston Children’s Hospital, a globally recognized pediatric academic medical center affiliated with Harvard Medical School and home to more than 13,000 employees. She leads enterprise-wide human capital strategy, workforce transformation, and HR operations, shaping a modern, high-performing people function that supports clinical excellence, research innovation, and world-class patient care. A transformational healthcare executive, Lisa partners closely with executive and clinical leadership to align talent strategy with organizational priorities. She is responsible for workforce planning, leadership development, labor and employee relations, total rewards, diversity and inclusion, HR technology, and organizational effectiveness. Her leadership is grounded in operational rigor, data-driven decision-making, and a deep commitment to culture, engagement, and employee experience. Prior to joining Boston Children’s in 2023, Lisa served as Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Community Affairs at Lifespan Corporation, Rhode Island’s largest employer and an academic health system affiliated with The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. There, she led system-wide HR transformation, centralizing service delivery, modernizing infrastructure, and strengthening service excellence while ensuring that workforce strategy advanced patient-centered care. Throughout her career across both public and private sectors, Lisa has built and led high-performing teams through complex organizational change. She is known for translating strategy into execution, driving measurable results, and fostering collaborative, accountable leadership cultures. Lisa holds a Master of Business Administration from Binghamton University, with a concentration in International Business, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from SUNY Cortland. She is Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certified and a graduate of the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business Executive Human Resources Program. An active civic leader, Lisa has served on the boards of the American Heart Association, where she chaired Go Red for Women (2019–2020) and the Heart Walk (2022), and the Binghamton University Alumni Association, where she held multiple executive committee roles, including President of the Board.
